Words you do not want to hear at bedtime:

"Mommy? I feel hyper."

Ugh. Will my child EVER be a good sleeper?

I've taken a tiny-ish break from writing this week after my marathon revision for jonowrimo. First off was TANTALIZE by Cynthia Leitich Smith. What a ride! I love the way the book is structured (Italian menu). So much fun! And this book was SEXY. :-) I think, for a little while anyway, I'll be pouring my own red wine, thank you very much.

Now I'm on to THE DARK IS RISING. Yes, I know, it is probably criminal that I haven't read this book yet. Well, I am reading it now. And loving it. It's all I can do not to toss my freelance work aside, sit by the fire with a cat, and escape. Except for the fact that the last time I was holding a cat (last night) he spooked over something, bounced up, hit my chin with his head and caused me to bite my tongue on both sides so hard it bled. So, not so much with the cat after all.

And in very exciting news, I had an e-mail from my editor yesterday who told me a designer is at work on my cover. !!

Have a good Tuesday, everyone.

OOOH!!!
I loveloveloved the Dark is Rising as a kid. I got books from that series out almost every time I went to the library. I remember bing so bummed when I searched for other Susn Cooper books in the card catalog and came up empty.:( Though it seems she does have some others... I'm going to have to go find them!

I'm very excited! My husband saved all the books from when he was a kid so they are waiting for me...

I was an avid reader as a kid but somehow missed the Dark is Rising series until my 30's, when a friend mentioned them. I thought they were all pretty great. And what fun, to embark on an entire series of good stories!! And they've all been published already! :)

Yes, the hyper thing is decidedly not wonderful.

AHA! Someone else just starting The Dark is Rising books! I'm actually going to start Greenwitch right after I eat my lunch. Happy sigh.

Me, too - me, too! I ordered it based on your blog.

It arrived today!

But first I have to finish this silly book I picked up the other day.

P.S.
If my son, is any indication, no ... your son will never be a good sleeper.

Mine still wakes up before the sun, but he's been trained to wait until at least 6 to come wake us up on the weekends. 6:02 ... like clockwork.

Not surprisingly at all, he sleeps in past 6:45 on school days.
